My Big Girl :(

Let's see, she dresses herself, brushes her own teeth, washes her own hair, buckles and unbuckles her car seat, reads, writes, can use scissors, navigates the pbs "wepsite", dials daddy's work number, knows her phone number, counts to 100 in English and 20 in Mandarin, sets the table, helps load and unload the dishwasher, goes potty all by herself (most of the time), plays bingo and has to be the caller, folds laundry better than me, takes great pictures, uses words like "respectful" and "frustrated" and now...

...makes her own breakfast! What happened to my little baby girl???

Crafty Attie

I think it is safe to say at this point that Attie's artwork is abstract.
Here she is working on "Bird House with Glitter"

And her latest creation:

"Diney-bank"

Mommy, on the other hand, is uncategorized.

Happy Hollow

Attie was on Spring Break from school this past week. She and I had lots of fun hanging out, but Attie especially enjoyed Happy Hollow. It's a small zoo with lots of cute animals, most of which have no business living in San Jose. There is also a very large park attached with kiddie rides, play structures, puppet shows, train rides, and cafe. We couldn't do everything in one day, so we went two days. I was very impressed when Attie marched right into the contact area and cooed the pygmy goats over for some food. She was not the least bit scared and even put them in their place when they got too pushy.

Sad in San Jose?

Easter Sunday ended on a sad note for our Monthly Dinner Group.
Bergan has taken a wonderful opportunity to work in Tokyo, Japan for 9 months.
He, Tomoko and Ayumi left Monday morning. Although we are all putting up a good front in this photo, there were plenty of tears as we said goodbye to our best friends. Our monthly dinner group is down to 4, but we are determined to continue as usual, including the Bergan's with the use of webcam technology.
I have gotten some updates via email from Tomoko and they are settling in, liking Tokyo, and adjusting to "city life." We miss you guys so much!

Easter update

We had a fun Easter weekend. We colored eggs on Saturday. Attie was very creative with stickers. Then on Saturday night, she left some carrots and a note for the Bunny. She had a difficult time falling asleep. She said she was soooo excited for the Easter Bunny.

She (and Levi) had so much fun hunting for eggs. She screamed and laughed after finding each egg. She thought Bunny was very clever. Especially when she found an egg "tucked in" her bed!

The Easter Bunny was very generous! Games, puzzles, dress-up clothes, stickers and one chocolate bunny. All of her favorite things. Later in the day, we met Julie at Tomoko, Ayumi and Bergan's for our last get together for a while...more on that in the next blog :(

Family Fun Day

Friday was Family Fun Day at Waha Montessori.

It stopped raining for just long enough to have it on the playground.

It started with an Easter Egg hunt! We were a few minutes late, (I know, none of you are surprised to hear that!) and Attie struggled to find three of the few remaining eggs.

She was not disappointed though because they contained very yummy candy.

After the egg hunt, there were competitive games.

The first one was a hoola-hoop rolling contest. We were not so good at that.
I blamed it on the hoop which had broken and then been taped back together.

I was thinking, "For all the tuition, you'd think they could get some decent hoola-hoops!!!"

Not to worry...

We kicked butt on the three-legged race.

Attie and I passed all the boys and their dads and won this shiny trophy!!!

The day ended with a raffle and a snack of eggs boiled in soy sauce, delicious.

Sometimes I wonder...

Not only is she eating while lying down, no-no on mommy's part.
But, she is watching TV upside down!!!
Do any of your kids do things like this?
Just wondering.

Sparkles and crowns.

Atticus has discovered that she feels her best in sparkly clothing.
We went to a birthday party on Saturday, this was her pretty outfit.
The sparklier, the better!

The party was lots of fun, a princess theme.

Each of us made our own crowns to bring home.

Go Fish!

So, the other night we were playing a hot game of Nemo Go Fish.
I thought it would be a cute picture for the blog.
I told Attie to "fan out" her cards so I could take a picture.
She laid her cards out on the table and began to fan them with both hands as well as blow on them as if they were hot and needed to be cooled off.
