Our nice mailman

Attie got this adorable "real" mailbox for XMas, and today for the 1st time, she put it outside with the flag up. When we got back from our pedicure (pretty toes pictured left), the mailman had obliged and taken the mail, put the flag down, and left the door open so she knew he had come. She was so excited!
Conversation on the way to school this morning:
Me: Do you want to listen to ballet music?
Attie: Ok. Mommy, you were a balleter, right?
Me: That's right, a long time ago.
Attie: Where was I?
Me: You weren't even born yet.
Attie: Oh, I was still a T-Rex?
Love to all,
Wendy
ps. to the certain someone who is making fun of my hard work: I have pictures of you too :)

Look at What We Got...

A Staghorn Fern!!!
It reminds us of Florida and we are hoping that ours will live as long or longer than Dad's 25 year old one. Dad, did you know that they like to eat banana peels? Since we don't have a tree to hang it on and the weather is still a bit wintry, we are keeping it on the patio, out of the wind.
Love to all,
Wendy

The Perfect Day!

First, our new coffee table came! Thanks Dad & Sandy! We love it! This pic also shows the changes we have made since the summer. Different furniture arrangement, new carpet, painted fireplace, and now our new table. It's cool because it has four little tables nesting underneath that we can pull out and use for side tables or additional seating.

Then, Tomoko and I took the girls to the school by Tomoko's house. They got to ride their bikes and play on the playground. The weather was so perfect, I even got a little burnt. Ayumi and Attie traded on and off between each other's bikes and Attie's scooter, which she is getting much better at. After that, we went to Tomoko's and had lunch outside in Tomoko's beautiful back yard and the girl's played in Ayumi's sandbox.

Finally, Terry BB-Q'ed the best chicken I've ever had and we drank mai-tai's like it was summer. I'm glad we took advantage of this beautiful day because it's supposed to storm and rain for like 4 days.
This is a picture of the turtle Attie picked out at he Monterey Bay Aquarium, courtesy of Julie, thanks Julie! She named it after her beloved Uncle Jeff.

Much love to all!

Thursday Feb. 23, 2006

Here is Attie on her new scooter. She "rides" it for about one minute and then she's done. She hasn't gotten the technique yet and sort of limps along. Quote of the month is, "I can do it by myself!" So she won't let me help her much and will figure it out eventually, I guess.
The new bed is a big hit. She has stayed in it all night for the three nights she's had it. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to get her out of our bed, but it has been effortless.
"The sickies" has been going around our house all winter. Terry had it last week, Attie got it over the weekend and missed two days of school and now I've come down with it. This is the ONLY drawback to preschool!
Speaking of preschool. I have added a link to to this blog which will take you directly to Waha Montessori. There is a very cute picture of Attie in the "gallery" section under "Pumpkin Harvest". They have a little garden out back and they grew pumpkins in the fall. I love her school so much. I can't believe what she's learning. She is reading English words as well as identifying several Chinese characters. Also, the school just started "Parents Night Out". On the last Friday of each month, we can drop her off from 6-10 for only $20!! Tomorrow will be the first night, Terry and I are going to the movies!!!!
That's the latest. Love from The Ahearns

First update & latest news

Here's Attie at school for the Chinese New Year Party. She wore the Mandarin outfit that she picked out herself!

Hi all! Some of you may not know that Attie has been sleeping in our bed since Thanksgiving! Well, she slept in her own, new bed last night!! I intended to lay with her until she fell asleep like I always do, but I woke up at 4:30am. Anyway, I'm happy to have her in her own bed again. I will send more pics when her "shabby chic" quilts arrive.
